Caribou Stew

Greg cooked an impressive pot of Caribou stew. Even I thought it smelled good. He said that any monkey could have made this stew, but I strongly disagree. His stew contained: Barely, brown rice, onion, green pepper, onion spice, mushroom soup, and of course a lean caribou rump. He is Ruby's protein savior.

Were Hanging Out Waiting

The weather is still hanging around 0 degrees, which means more playing indoors. Greg, Ruby and Moxy were hanging out playing in the blue room. Were waiting for the Camai Dance Festival to start...that will be nice. I am waiting for softball to start. I am also waiting to find out if I get rejected or accepted into the OHSU school of nuring program. Either way is okay. Accepted would be better :), we should find out next week. The universe works in mysterious ways...right? I don't think we are experiencing cabin fever though, because we have lots of activities to do inside. Ruby's really taking to dancing, and likes to look between her legs upside down!

New Baby Wrap

I bought a new wrap for Moxy, I figured he could use his own :). I really like this one. It's made out of gauzy material which makes it light weight and nice to use for the hot days of summer. I got it from Gypsy Mama Wraps. It is shorter than the other one, so there is not a ton of fabric hanging over the edge. I was thinking of giving my other wrap to the local kid shelter. They get babies from birth and some are "colicky". I am going to show them how to wear the babies and see if it helps the little ones sleep. They were so cute and little, really broke my heart. In fact I was ready to foster care them and/or adopt them, and called Greg telling him that he could handle two babies and a two year old. He thought I was a bit impulsive. Maybe this is a bit much right now :).

Moxy's First Buzz Cut

Greg decided that Moxy needed a hair cut. So he buzzed it like his hair. I was skeptical at first but now I agree he looks a lot better, his hair was starting to look like a mop.

Peep Peep

We ate our Peep in our hot chocolate.

Greg thought it would be good to try a chocolate sauce on our apple cinnamon rolls. It didn't sound good at first, but they were actually REALLY good.

Fancy New Clothes For Easter

We have no idea why she was smiling like this for the camera, she hasn't done it before or since.

Happy Easter

Unfortunately Michele taught Ruby how to pick her nose. Great, she'll be "that kid" that's always picking. Moxy's hair reminds me of a 1930's paper delivery boy or a Tommy gun gangster.

Zero Degree Weather Feels Like Spring

The weather has been very cold lately, -30, and just when it felt like spring here. Today it rose to 0 degrees without wind, and it felt great!

Green Hands Must be St.Patricks Day or Easter!

Ruby's first year of learning how to dye eggs for Easter. She did a pretty good job sharing but kept grabbing her neighbors eggs and redying them. Luckily her neighbor did not even notice. Happy Easter to everyone.

Our neighbor has a chicken coop, with about 12 chickens and maybe a couple roosters? I thought this was really cool.

Home Made Enchilada Sauce

I am about to give you a yummy, easy, and fast recipe for making your very own enchilada sauce. No more buying red sauce from a can. This morning Greg made potatoes and we smothered the potatoes in red sauce making one of my New Mexican favorite breakfast meals...papitas with red sauce!

The recipe:
3 tablespoons of red chili powder (less or more is fine)
3 tablespoons of flour
1 teaspoon of oregano
1 teaspoon of cumin
1 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt
1 teaspoon of cocoa powder (secret ingrediant)
3 cups of water
1 cup of tomato sauce ( I use spagetti sauce-cause it's thick)

mix dry ingrediants together, throw into a pot with the water and stir aggressively at first and consistently until it becomes thick. Add tomato sauce at the end. You are done!

Are our Cleaners that Clean for Us?

The definition of clean from the Webster's dictionary:
clean |klēn| adjective 1 free from dirt, marks, or stains • having been washed since last worn or used • [ attrib. ] (of paper) not yet marked by writing or drawing • (of a person) attentive to personal hygiene• free from pollutants or unpleasant substances.

This was my favorite surface wipe, and made me feel like things were clean around the house. Yah, I always felt a little sick from the smell after cleaning a lot, but I felt better about bacteria and viruses. I have not bought this brand for a while because it got too expensive. I recently read the hazard warning yesterday, and was glad that I have not bought them in a long time. This cannot be good for us as a family because we are in fact HUMAN.

Family=humans - the chemicals=hazardous to humans=not good.

This shows the ingrediants, I do not understand them, this cannot be good either.

I bought these for fun not too long ago. I may stick with them, but bottom line is I can make a cheaper and "cleaner" cleaner :) that is not hazardous to my family's health. I recently have been using vinegar, tea tree oil and lemon essential oil and it doesn't smell great but I still feel clean, and I don't get sick from the smell. Maybe we can avoid cancer.

Interesting enough I understand these ingrediants, and there are not that many in the formula.

We Could Eat Them

There is a garbage can in Bethel that says "kids-Praise em' while you raise em'!" I never heard that slogan before but I really liked the reminder and I thought it was fun to say. "praise em while you raise em."

Old slippers, New slippers

Moxy finally fits into Ruby's old slippers, and we recently found the toddler size in a similar slipper...together their feet look really cute.

COMMUNICATION

For about three weeks, Ruby kept carrying around this little card that read "communication." Every time that I tried to put it away she would get upset or if I did get it and put it some place I would turn around and she had it again carry it around. Today she put it in a clear container with one of her favorite pink sparkly play purses. I decided she was really trying to hint to me about something :), maybe this is a sign for me. Later Greg found the little card all chewed up in Ruby's mouth.

communication |kəˌmyoōnəˈkā sh ən| (noun) the imparting or exchanging of information or news • a letter or message containing such information or news. • the successful conveying or sharing of ideas and feelings • social contact

And to All a Goodnight!

Ruby is actually asleep in this picture. But it's pretty normal for her to fall asleep at the table. Too bad she didn't have a pillow.
