The Ski

Moxy in his outside socks and snow boots, excited to get out of the house.

Greg pulling the kids in the chariot.

This is Dull lake all frozen. It turns into a walking area in the winter. It was a really pretty day, warm and perfect conditions to take the kids out for a stroll.

How to Build a Hearth By Greg Simmons

We are in this photo absorbing the heat from the fire. So pretty and relaxing.

Greg putting the final touches on the fire and watching how it funtions with actual wood in it.

This was the hardest part applying the tile and grout. Greg took his time so that it does not crack in the future.

Greg started out using 4 peices of plywood, and then, 2 pieces of dry wall, then cement backer board. Greg measured the boards out according to the Blaze King guide standards for saftey. This way if our house burns down because of the stove the insurance company will not find a reason to not pay for the fire.

Fiddle Dance Fun

First note: Auntie Susan made these adorable little tops for the kids. They resemble the Kuspuks that people wear out here. They love there little tops.

Second note: we went to the fiddle dance last night, and both kids were like dancing tazmanian devils. Sometimes Ruby was out there by herself swaying her hips and waving her arms, and sometimes Moxy would be in the corner stomping his feet. Ruby had a lot of fun with one boy named Michael. I was sitting in the bleachers and Greg was watching the kids on the floor, and I started hearing people say, "look at the that little girl, she has that boy in a headlock." Yes it was Ruby putting wrestling moves on this little boy. She had her legs wrapped around the boys belly and had both arms around his neck. She had the death grip on him. The little boy was laughing hard, and Ruby was trying to get him to "tap out." The people in the bleachers thought this was a funny scene, I felt both mortified and a little proud :).

Nice and Clean

Moxy seems to really like his sponge bob towel. We are getting ready for the fiddle dance, getting nice and clean for those dirty old gym floors.

Cold Thanksgiving

We headed down the road for Thanksgiving dinner. Poor Moxy wanted to walk so bad, but that Northern wind about blew him backwards. The rumor was that with wind the temp was -30. Ouch. It was a great Thanksgiving, Ruby would only eat Turkey..good for her!

Sheefish

This fish is considered a white fish and found when the salmon are not running. Our friend puts out a net under the ice on the river and caught a whole bunch of fish and gave us some. We had to call Dorothy our neighbor over to show us how to cut the fish. She showed Greg how to cut it with an Ulu.

End result a bowl full of fish.

Andrew in a Suit

Andrew was headed to some type of dog wedding and borrowed Greg's maybe twice worn suit. It fits Andrew very well. Greg was trying to sell it to him :). Greg is holding Ruby and trying to make it difficult for me to take the photo.

Ladybug and Pumpkin

Moxy started out the tricker or treat adventure falling aleep on Greg. This was Greg's pumpkin hat when he was a little kid. Grandma S. made it probaly about 30 years ago.

Ruby went as a little lady bug. She met a little girl named Evelyn who lived two doors down. Evelyn was a lady bug too!

Grandma S. took us to every door up and down the street of where she knew people. I got lots of candy too!

Sidewalks in Rochester

I forgot how nice it is to play on sidewalks. This is Greg's, Laura's and Andrew's old little red wagon, it sqeaked a little but Ruby and Moxy really liked it. Moxy would hold on tight and smile when we pushed him....

...he smiled less when Ruby pushed him, but he didn't cry. Ruby acted like a big shot sister pushing her little brother around in the wagon.

Eventually Moxy wanted to walk with Ruby and the wagon. He eventually learned to push the wagon himself with a little help.

Cute little post diaper pants

Susan made these diaper underpants out of her prefold diapers. They are so cute and fit Moxy and Ruby nicely. We still have to put a cover over his little bum though.
Moxy got a new haircut yesterday. He is back looking like daddy!

Cutting Those Logs...

There are 13 logs that were floated down river about 150 miles into Bethel. Wood is gold right now, due to the high cost of oil, it's much cheaper than oil right now.

We got some help from a friend, and our friend brought a friend, so the cutting went quickly.

You don't see it but Andrew was picking up the cut logs and taking them in the back of our house. Lots of lifting and piling. I stayed in the house with the kids and admired their work.
